Samsung finally revealed it’s 3rd Gear S series smartwatch at the IFA consumer technology tradeshow in Berlin, Germany last month. The viewers got to know that the next-generation wearable comes in two new styles, dubbed Frontier and Classic.
Frontier is designed to act as both a sport-focused watch and leisure smartwatch. Meanwhile, the Classic “pays homage to the minimalist, elegant style found in the most iconic timepieces,” Samsung says.
Twisting the bezel around the 1.3 inch circular AMOLED display will zoom, scroll and navigate around the watch’s operating system. The latest Gear S3 also includes IP68 water resistance, contact-less Samsung Pay, 4G LTE connectivity and in-built GPS.
Both variations of the smartwatch are powered by a dual-core 1GHz processor and 768MB of RAM. There’s also 4GB of built-in storage.
Samsung Gear S3 is compatible with any 22mm watch band, so users can quickly personalize the device to match any outfit or occasion. For the first time on in the Gear smartwatch series, the S3 ships with Corning Gorilla Glass SR+, a toughened glass specifically designed for wearable devices to provide a more durable, scratch resistant and crisp display.
Samsung has also made a number of tweaks to the software, bringing a slew of new features to the Gear S3.
Amongst the new additions is the ability to accept or reject a call, as well as snooze an alarm – without the need to touch the display. In addition, by writing or drawing on the display, messages will automatically convert to texts and emojis. Users can also create short reminders and to-do lists to manage even the most hectic schedules with the Reminders application. There are additional a must-have outdoor features like barometers and much more. Not only this S3 is hip, cool and functional, it sure captures the user’s desire to own his or her Gear S3.
